Unity Metaphysics & the Enneagram, Part 2
Error, Forgiveness, and Seeing Beyond Judgment
An exploration of forgiveness through Unity,
A Course in Miracles, and the Enneagram
What might it mean to love your enemies?
Life is bumpy. That much we know. And when something collides with our lives—individually or collectively—our first question is often: Who’s to blame?
What if there is a way of being in the world that moves beyond blame, yet still holds a deep sense of responsibility, fairness, and goodness?
This nine-hour live class isn’t another “four steps to forgiveness.” It’s an approach rooted in our fundamental divinity and holiness. Forgiveness here doesn’t mean condoning harm, abandoning accountability, or resigning ourselves to what is. It means seeing beyond appearances, and discovering what happens when we let go of our private preferences about how others, and life itself, should be.
The non-dual teachings of Unity and A Course in Miracles offer another way. Unity understands sin as error, a missing of the mark that arises when we forget our oneness. A Course in Miracles offers a radical vision of forgiveness: not pardoning a wrong we believe is real, but recognizing the essential truth in one another that was never harmed. Such forgiveness cannot be forced. Sometimes it begins with nothing more than our willingness to be willing.
These teachings have long shaped how Rev. Nhien Vuong teaches the Enneagram. In this second course in the Unity Metaphysics & the Enneagram series, that foundation becomes explicit. This isn’t a class on Unity or A Course in Miracles per se, but an exploration of their wisdom through the lens of the Enneagram. Together we’ll look at how each type holds on to judgment, and how each might open more fully to forgiveness as a way of returning home to our true nature.

What we’ll explore
Five doorways into non-dual forgiveness
Missing the Mark
Unity’s understanding of sin as forgetting our oneness, rather than a verdict on anyone’s worth.
The Enneagram of Forgiveness
How each type holds on, keeps score, and constructs its own sense of right and wrong—and what forgiveness asks of each of us.
Radical Forgiveness
A Course in Miracles’ invitation to look beyond error to the truth of who we are, and to transform our relationships from special to holy.
Love Without Othering
How we might stand for what is good and respond to harm without hating or making anyone the enemy.
Willing, Not Trying
Unity’s practices of denial and affirmation, and how forgiveness arises as grace when we stop forcing it.
Who this is for?
Have you ever tried to forgive and found you couldn’t? Or felt torn between the call to forgive and the call to stand for what is right?
Perhaps the person you’ve found hardest to forgive is yourself. Or perhaps you’re drawn to a different theology of forgiveness, one that begins not with sin and pardon but with our essential wholeness.
This course is for anyone who senses there may be a deeper way to hold forgiveness, accountability, and love together.
It’s also for those who have been taught that forgiveness means accepting mistreatment. Forgiveness never requires us to stay in harm’s way or abandon healthy boundaries. Often it is what frees us to set those boundaries with clarity rather than resentment.
No previous knowledge of Unity, A Course in Miracles, or the Enneagram is required. We’ll introduce the foundational teachings of all three, while offering deeper integration for those already familiar with them.
Part 1 is not required, though it’s warmly recommended as a foundation. Unity Metaphysics & the Enneagram, Part 1: From Personality to Individuality is available as a self-paced course.
This course will also serve as a foundational course for Evolving Enneagram’s Certified Enneagram Teacher Training, currently in development.
“Forgiveness is not silent consent, the negative appearance of making the best of a situation while underneath there is resentment. Forgiveness is the art of putting something else in place of the thing forgiven.”
—Unity Co-Founder Myrtle Fillmore
What to expect
This is a class rather than a healing workshop or retreat—but it’s far from a lecture.
We’ll explore the metaphysical foundations of forgiveness through teaching, group discussion, and small breakout groups, making space to reflect on how these ideas live in our everyday experience. Together, we’ll lay the groundwork for a deeper, more embodied practice of forgiveness.
To support deeper sharing, breakout groups won’t be recorded, and there will also be times to share in the larger circle off the record.
“Revisiting Unity metaphysics with Nhien through the lens of the Enneagram reminds me that our innate perfection always persists, and that my participation in community actually matters.”
—John Greenleaf-Maple (MO, USA)
