Evolving Enneagram emerged from a lifelong inquiry into the nature of existence—a quest for wholeness, belonging, and love.
Nhien Vuong is a contemplative Enneagram teacher, author, and retreat guide devoted to helping individuals and communities awaken to their deeper nature.
Through Evolving Enneagram, Nhien offers retreats, mentoring, and contemplative spaces where the wisdom of the Enneagram becomes a living path of awakening and transformation.
Born in Vietnam, Nhien came to the United States as a refugee with her family after the fall of Saigon. Growing up in Southern California, she learned early that belonging is not something granted from the outside, but something rediscovered from within.
Even as a young girl, she was captivated by life’s deeper questions, devouring books on philosophy and the cosmos and gazing at the night sky wondering about the nature and meaning of life.
Nhien encountered the Enneagram in 2002, and it soon became one of the most formative guides in her inner journey. What began as a personal exploration gradually unfolded into a lifelong vocation of study, teaching, and spiritual accompaniment.
Her work integrates contemplative practice, compassionate presence, and the wisdom of the Enneagram to support inner awakening.
A Contemplative Path of Transformation
Nhien began her professional life as a Stanford-trained lawyer, practicing litigation and mediation in Northern California for eight years. Yet the deeper questions that had guided her since childhood continued to call.
Following that calling, she pursued seminary training and was ordained as a Unity minister in 2015.
She spent five years in church ministry at Unity Temple on the Plaza, where she founded the church’s Enneagram school and began facilitating Contemplative Practices & the Enneagram (CPE) groups. Witnessing the profound transformation this work catalyzed, she realized it was meant to grow beyond church walls.
In 2019 she founded Evolving Enneagram, a contemplative formation school devoted to nurturing wholeness, belonging, and love through the integration of contemplative practice, compassionate community, and the Enneagram.
Today she leads retreats, mentors individuals and groups, and collaborates with a growing faculty to cultivate spaces where the Enneagram becomes a living path of awakening.
Formation & Background
Nhien has studied the Enneagram since 2002 and has been teaching it since 2007.
She is among a small number of professionals worldwide recognized as an IEA Accredited Professional with Distinction. She is also a Certified Somatic Enneagram™ Facilitator and a Certified Enneagram Professional through the Awareness-to-Action program.

Nhien has presented professionally in numerous international forums, in countries including Egypt, Denmark, Mexico, Sweden, and the United States, and at global online summits reaching participants in more than 150 countries.

A lifelong lover of the written word, Nhien is a poet, writer, and author whose work has appeared in numerous Unity publications, including Daily Word Magazine, Unity Magazine, and Spirituality + Health: A Unity Publication.
She is the author of The Enneagram of the Soul: A 40-Day Spiritual Companion for the Nine Types.
Inspired by more than two decades of teaching and practice, the book invites readers into a contemplative journey beyond personality patterns and toward a deeper experience of presence, freedom, and wholeness.
