Hello, I'm George
I’m a certified Enneagram teacher, spiritual guide, and contemplative practitioner guiding individuals and groups in their journey toward greater self-awareness and transformation.
The immediate goal is to recognize the inner patterns that drive your outer behavior. These patterns vary according to the type of person you are, and can be internally witnessed by a faculty of spiritual awareness commonly called the Inner Observer."

A Life Dedicated to Teaching and Spiritual Growth
My journey with the Enneagram began over two decades ago, and since 2001, I’ve had the privilege of teaching this transformative system in various settings, from seminaries and churches to workshops for social workers, therapists, clergy, and laypeople.
I’m certified in the Narrative Tradition of the Enneagram, a method that invites individuals to share their personal stories as a way of discovering their true selves. This approach has enriched my work and allowed me to connect deeply with people from all walks of life.
Over the years, I’ve also integrated contemplative practices into my life and teaching.
I’ve been a centering prayer practitioner since 2006, and I enjoy breaking up long workshops with yoga and Qi Gong to help participants stay grounded and open to the spiritual insights that emerge during our time together.
Spiritual Formation and Community Involvement
I’ve always believed that spiritual growth happens best in community, and I’ve had the honor of serving alongside others who share this passion.
I’m a proud member of the KC Mystic Misfits, a local group of spiritual seekers who value both contemplation and action.
Since 2017, I’ve also worked closely with Rev. Nhien during her basic and advanced Enneagram classes, as well as the Spiritual Transformation Groups (CPE groups), where we explore contemplative practices in connection with the Enneagram.
In these settings, I’ve had the joy of facilitating group discussions and offering individual guidance through typing interviews. These interviews are one of my favorite parts of the process, as they allow me to help participants discover their Enneagram type and unlock deeper self-awareness.
It’s incredibly rewarding to witness those “aha” moments when people begin to understand themselves more fully.
A Journey of Learning and Service
My own educational path has deeply informed my teaching and spiritual direction.
I hold a BA in Math and Philosophy from the University of Missouri, a Master of Divinity in General Pastoral Studies from Brite Divinity School, and a Doctorate in Pastoral Care and the Psychology of Religion from Iliff School of Theology.
These studies have equipped me to walk alongside others as they navigate the complexities of life, faith, and personal growth.
In addition to my Enneagram work, I’ve spent many years as a marriage and family therapist, accumulating over 25,000 hours of therapy sessions.
I’m also a longtime member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and while I’m now retired from clinical pastoral care, the insights from that work continue to inform my approach to spiritual guidance and teaching.
Professional Memberships and Certification
I’m proud to be a professional member of the International Enneagram Association and a certified teacher in the Enneagram Studies in the Narrative Tradition.
My commitment to the Enneagram is ongoing, as I believe this powerful tool offers endless opportunities for growth and self-discovery.
I’ve also served as a member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors an Association for Clinical Pastoral Care, and although I’ve retired from this role, my dedication to helping others continues through my Enneagram work.
Family and Personal Life
Family has always been central to my life. I’ve been happily married to Suzanne Allen Gordon, a retired French teacher, for many years.
Together, we have three wonderful sons: Trent, Matthew, and Colby. Suzanne and I have shared many adventures, and our family has been a source of joy and learning throughout my journey.

Whether you’re new to the Enneagram or have been on this journey for years, I’d love to connect with you. Through my workshops, typing interviews, or contemplative practices, I’m here to support you as you deepen your understanding of yourself and your spiritual path.

Sharing My Wisdom
Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to contribute to the wider Enneagram community through my writing.
Some of my articles, including “The Typing Interview Revisited” and “The Panel Method”, have been published in The Enneagram Monthly.
These writings reflect my deep interest in helping people discover their Enneagram type and understand the dynamics at play within themselves and their relationships.
What people are saying
Rev Gordon is a dynamic speaker and a scholar of the Enneagram. He introduced me to the "inner observer" which has been an essential tool on my spiritual journey. His compassion and knowledge make him a very valuable asset to the Enneagram community. His experience in helping people identify the E type they identify with is exceptional.
